The Schulich Consulting Club is excited to host a dynamic case competition virtually at UCC this year.
Competitors will have the opportunity to enhance their problem-solving and critical thinking skills as they navigate a complex case under 36 hours. The 36 hour pressure tank will challenge competitors to distill their visionary ideas and strategies into actionable solutions, and then present their solutions to top consultants in the industry.
Prior to presenting, the top teams will be given an invaluable experience to gain personal feedback on their solutions from top consultants. Thank you to McKinsey & Company who is our sponsor of the case competition and will be judging the final round.
36 Hour Competition
The preliminary round requires undergraduate students in teams of 4 to register and complete a short case. Upon registering for the case competition, teams will immediately be emailed the preliminary case to where they will have until 11:59 PM on Sunday, October 25, 2020 to submit their solution which should include a 1 page executive summary and up to 2 pages of appendices. The top 12 teams selected will be invited to compete in the 36 hour pressure tank and presentations. Individuals will be considered to attend the conference as a delegate, if not selected for the case competition.
The top 12 teams selected from the preliminary round will then have the opportunity to compete in the 36 hour pressure tank. A new case will be sent via email on Wednesday, November 4th, 2020 at 12 PM. Competitors will then have 36 hours to complete and submit their solution which will be due by Thursday, November 5th, 2020 at 11:59 PM.
Round 1 & 2 Presentations
The 12 teams selected to compete in the 36 hour pressure tank will be paired with a consultant and given a 20 minute mentorship opportunity to discuss their solution and gain feedback, before submitting their presentations later that evening. The mentorship session will be held on Thursday, November 5th, 2020 at 6 PM.
The top 12 teams will be presenting their solutions to the 36 hour pressure tank virtually, on Friday, November 6th, 2020 during the conference. The top 3 teams will advance to the final round (Round 2) and present the same 1day in front of our sponsor, McKinsey & Company.
The Undergraduate Consulting Conference would not be possible if it was not for the generous support of our sponsors. We are extremely grateful for their help in making the conference possible!
